Pears
Pear Powder (Dried Purée)
What It Is A concentrated, shelf‑stable form of pear made by drying purée until crisp and grinding it into a fine powder. It preserves the fruit’s sweetness and aroma in a compact, versatile form.
Flavor / Character Sweet, earthy and faintly floral. It carries the essence of pear without moisture, making it ideal for winter baking and spice blends.
Uses Dusting pastries, flavoring doughs, mixing into granola, stirring into yogurt or adding to spice rubs. It can also be used to intensify pear flavor in jams or syrups.
How to Make or Prepare Spread a thin, even layer of pear purée (from 3–4 cooked pears) onto a parchment‑lined baking sheet. Dry in a low oven (170°F / 75°C) or dehydrator for 4–6 hours until completely crisp. Break into pieces and grind in a spice grinder until fine. Store in an airtight jar away from light and moisture.
Notes Any remaining softness will cause clumping; ensure the purée is fully dry before grinding.
